【Antique Market Tour】
Kyoto’s antique markets are places of diverse interaction and memory, where objects carry the echoes of past lives—living narratives of craftsmanship, tradition, and history. Every piece holds a story, shaped by time and the hands that have cared for it. Our guided tour is designed to help you navigate these markets with ease, bridging language and cultural gaps so you can connect with vendors and their treasures in a meaningful way.
Each month, Kyoto’s most renowned antique markets come alive:
Toji Market “Meiku - Toji Koubou Ichi” (21st of every month) – The largest and most famous antique market in Kyoto, offering a wide array of goods ranging from vast selection of traditional and rare finds and crafts to fresh local produces alongside with street food and plants.
Kitano Tenmangu Market “Tenjin Ichi” (25th of every month) – A historic marketplace known for its exquisite textiles, ceramics, and folk crafts.
Heian Market (Usually 10th of every month but dates vary) – A curated gathering of artisans and antique specialists with an intimate selection of unique pieces.
We assist in finding pieces that resonate with your taste, whether it’s a finely aged ceramic, a timeworn textile, or a handcrafted tool with a rich past. As we walk through the markets together, we facilitate conversations with vendors, uncover hidden stories, and help you find meaningful pieces that align with your personal journey. Since these markets take place outdoors, dates may shift, and cancellations may occur due to weather. Our expertise ensures you make the most of each visit, helping you navigate the stalls, engage with vendors, and discover treasures that capture the essence of Kyoto’s timeless craftsmanship. We invite you to step into the stories behind the objects and take a piece of Kyoto’s heritage home with you.
