Kurinuki is a traditional Japanese pottery technique. It involves gradually carving both the inner and outer surfaces from a thick block of clay to shape the piece.

This method is characterized by the way the carving creates a natural, earthy texture, and how the carved surfaces themselves become part of the design.
The rough texture and tactile feel make each use a unique and special experience.

For this workshop, we blend coarse mountain clay into the main clay body to create a more natural and expressive surface.
To highlight the clay’s natural color, a slightly matte transparent glaze will be applied to each piece.
The base forms are prepared in advance to make them easy to carve, and participants will use various tools to create their own unique designs.

Please select the form when making a reservation. The form cannot be changed on the day of the workshop.

The first ten minutes of the workshop will include sketching and a demonstration, so please arrive on time.
After completion, the processes of firing, packing, and shipping will take about two months.

Photos taken during the workshop will be sent to participants afterward.

「くりぬき」とは、日本の伝統的な陶芸技法のひとつです。分厚く用意した粘土の土台から、内側と外側の面を少しずつ削り出し、形を整えていく手法を指します。
この技法の特徴は、削り方によって自然の土のような風合いを生み出せること、そして削られた面そのものがデザインとなる点にあります。
ゴツゴツとした質感や手触りは、使うたびに心地よい特別な体験をもたらしてくれるでしょう。

本ワークショップで使用する粘土には、粒子の粗い山の土をブレンドしています。これにより、より自然で力強い表情をお楽しみいただけます。
また、土の自然由来の色を活かすため、作品にはややマットな透明釉薬を施します。
土台となる形は、削りやすい状態であらかじめご用意しておりますので、参加者の皆さまには様々な道具を使い、自由なデザインで制作していただきます。

予約の際に「湯呑み」か「茶碗」のどちらかをお選びください。当日に形を変更することはできません。

ワークショップの最初の10分間は、スケッチとデモンストレーションを行います。どうぞお時間に遅れないようご来場ください。
作品の完成後、焼成・梱包・発送までには約2か月ほどお時間をいただきます。

また、ワークショップ中に撮影したお写真のデータは、後日お客様にお送りいたします。

ワークショップは1時間で、1点の作品を制作します。追加焼成をご希望の場合は、一個につき別途3,000円がかかります。
